I use to do it that way to,...I used 2 Duralite 3600Mah just for extra precaution. I never had a problem with it either,...but I wasn't running digital servos then and didn't know if the recievers would handle 20+ amps of current loaded.

If it still works,...will save me some $$ for sure.
