Capt. Yassarian...the 2700kv will do nicely in most all brushed/brushless replacement jobs. The motor size is almost perfect for any plane.
WolverineRC: Redarding the Plug 'n Play Ascent, I just bought the kit but yet have to fly it. As far as the quality of the kit - they did a really nice job this time around! The new 450BL kit is far superior to the the original kit (see my little review [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_guide/kitratings.cfm?kit_id=2294]here[/link]), and with the upgraded prop/spinner and the 450 brushless that they now include, it will perform very very nicely. If you want to save some $$ go with the new 450BL kit 'as is'. But if you want crazy vertical climb (which I'm not sure why you'd need that), from my first hand experience the 2700kv will complete that request and then some.
In Sum: Get the Plug 'n Play version, you won't be let down. Then if you feel the need for speed - cram in the 2700kv and watch it go! NOTE: You're not going to get
insane straight line speeds with the 2700kv. The body/wing won't handle it.... After all, it is
supposed to be a park glider.
