Glad you got it working better by reworking the mount... much simpler than adding a nose ring. And to confirm, if you should ever use a nose mount, yes, it supports the non-spinning portion of the motor at the nose where CGRetired indicated in the picture. If it is kicking on the ground, I'd say it is kicking in the air too. But this is probably not a big deal if the movement is small and you aren't trying to fly super precisely.
