RE: Engine oils
No, it doesn't help, thanks. (You missed out BP 2380) I would like to hear from anyone who has used NYCO turbine oil. This is a Belgian made gas turbine oil which meets all military gas turbine specs. (NATO code O-156, Mil PRF 23699) but does not contain organo- phosphates, a highly toxic substance, which is used in most if not all other turbine oil as a load bearing additive.
As I am no longer flying fullsize jets I was not aware of it, NYCO, until I watched a DVD on the problems of cabin air contamination due to the ingress of oil vapours in airliner cabins which use engine bleed air as the source of cabin conditioning air.
This oil, TURBONYCOL 600, was initially developed for the Mirage, and is approved for turbine engine use by RR, GE, CFM and PWC and amongst others the US Navy and army and many European airlines, plus Boeing and Airbus. It is claimed to promote engine cleanliness with very low coking so may be of considerable benefit in model engines using total loss lubrication, and WITHOUT the toxicity.
So, anyone have any experience of NYCO ?
If not, I will obtain some and test it in one of my engines.
Regards,
David G.
