the oils consecrated for turbine are: MOBIL JET II and AEROSHELL 500 OR 560. Dont use others!!! hear you have a post of turbine oil.

No, it doesn't help, thanks. (You missed out BP 2380) I would like to hear from anyone who has used NYCO turbine oil. This is a Belgian made gas turbine oil which meets all military gas turbine specs. (NATO code O-156, Mil PRF 23699) but does not contain organo- phosphates, a highly toxic substance, which is used in most if not all other turbine oil as a load bearing additive.
As I am no longer flying fullsize jets I was not aware of it, NYCO, until I watched a DVD on the problems of cabin air contamination due to the ingress of oil vapours in airliner cabins which use engine bleed air as the source of cabin conditioning air.
This oil, TURBONYCOL 600, was initially developed for the Mirage, and is approved for turbine engine use by RR, GE, CFM and PWC and amongst others the US Navy and army and many European airlines, plus Boeing and Airbus. It is claimed to promote engine cleanliness with very low coking so may be of considerable benefit in model engines using total loss lubrication,and WITHOUT the toxicity.
So, anyone have any experience of NYCO ?
If not, I will obtain some and test it in one of my engines.

Hi David, I have seen the oil you mention in the course of my work but never used it. Have you heard of Mobil DTE Light turbine oil? Thats what myself and others have been using for some years, meets all the specs required for our application without any of the nasties you mention, easily obtained and zero cokeing and post cool down bearing stiction.

Closely related ot: Mobil DTE Light is indeed widely used oil in Europe and even approwed by some model turbine manufacturers. I've been using it with Simjet, Jetcat and Booster turbines with no problems. The cost here - 20 litres plastic canister with taxes about 70 Euros and it's widely available. Toxicity is lower than MIL -specd turbine oils. Just google for DTE Light to find out more...

Hi David, I'm also using DTE light in Wrens (SS & 44) with no problems whatsoever. Look up the company Lubes Direct located at Penrith NSW, a Mobil distributor.
Last time I bought it it was about $90 including delivery for 20 litres. The only down side with the DTE light is the colour, it has none! This makes fuel levels a little harder to see.
I did try Castrol TTS oil 2 stroke as recomended by Wren but I do not fly as often as I would like & had problems with gummy bearings which the starter would struggle with on the first start of the day. - John.

I use TURBONYCOL 600 oil in my turbines and have used it for the last 6 months or so. It is called OX-27 and is made in France. I use it on my Simjet 2300, Jetcat P120 and P70, with perfect results. I’ve burnt over 180 litres of JetA1 with this mixed in it. Something like 60 flights including 6 flights yesterday. I get it for £10 per 5 litre tin. The Turbine blades are clean, no white residue (that I got when i tried 2 stroke oil), and no sticky bearings which some other oils gave me. So first starts every time, even after a few weeks without flying.

I have two Simjets (2300 GS and 1700 GS). Anybody has used 2 stroke oil in Simjet turbines ???
I need to buy the turbine oil for post and wait some days, but the 2 stroke oil I can to buy it in one shop in front of my home.

I have only ever used Marine 2 stroke oil in all my turbines for years & had zero problems. I used the following turbine makes:-
Jetcat P70, P120 & P160.
Wren Mw44 Gold, MW54 & Supersport
Simjet 700, old 1200, new 1200, 1700, 2300, 3000, & Nexus.
Jetcat P70, P120 & P160.
Wren Mw44 Gold, MW54 & Supersport
Simjet 700, old 1200, new 1200, 1700, 2300, 3000, & Nexus.

Although I know about the DTE oils etc. I am trying to find a non toxic oil which will meet the requirements of ALL engine manufacturers and as NYCO oils meet all the specs. of oils such as ASTO 500/550 Mobil 2 and BP 2380 Turbonycol 600 may fit the bill perfectly, and it seems to be quite cheap !
Having flown a B757 with an engine oil leak just before I lost my licence and seen my best mate, also flying the 757, lose his licence with OP poisoning, I dont think we can treat toxicity lightly, a particularly as we seem to have an oil available which does the job without compromise AND without the toxicity.

If you can work out how to get it shipped to Australia, I can send you some OX-27 if this helps you?
I came across this turbine oil by chance. My local supplier was charging me £10 per quart for fully synthetic turbine oil, but offered me this OX-27which he had surplus to requirements and offered it to me at £10 per can for 5 liters. I did some internet searches on the oil and it seemed to meet all the requirements. So tried it first in the Simjet, which seemed fine so then in the Jetcats, which has also been perfect.

Noticed yesterday on each landing I got a puff of blue smoke out of the turbine at the point the wheels touch the tarmac. Looks like tyre smoke, but definitely came out of the turbine. On switching the engine off I get a couple of puffs of blue smoke out of the turbine on the initial spool down. Guess its unburnt oil but does not seem to effect the reliability or performance.

Ah, right. now I know what it is.....OX27, it's mil name....well know to every self respecting sooty. I suspect you may find the 'normal' cost a little more expensive but what price your health.
