Doesn't the new G-26 put out more power than the G-38 weight less and come in a smaller package. I have been thinking about a G-38 but get turned off when comparing it to the other Zenoah engines, it weights almost as much as the G-45 without the power. I am just getting started getting into gas.
Remember the G38 was designed ages ago. Both G45 and G26 are new designs, and must be more powerful for the weight.
The best thing about G38 is the reliability. That's why so many twin-engine planes are powered by G38s.
I do have a G45 installed on my 1/3 scale Pitts Special and like it a great deal. All my gas engines (I have 7) are Zenoahs with the exception of one Quadra 40 XL.
