I couldn't resist it anymore and got one of the newer ones as well.
There is very little difference compared to the older one from what I can see. Most obvious (for identification) are two larger diameter fins in the case and a different logo on the side. Head and spinner are still anodized so the ACE webpage simply shows a black and white image.

Compared to the earlier version:

+ the pin that aligns the liner in the case is now a solid pin rather than the hollow one that would leak (!)
- crank is still very sloppy straight out of the box (so they seem to work but it just feels worn out to me.

I'm hoping that the liner and case ports are better matched on this one and I will try to check that too....
