I have seen this. The guy was using 2 similar aircrafts (trainers) and the right stick was aileron and elevator of one airplane and the left stick was aileron and elevator of the other plane. Started both engines with one slightly more fuel in. He then flew them out of gas and dead sticked them one after the other.

The throttle was set so the planes were easily flyable.
