RE: Bought my first biplane!
Well, now that I think I have everything I need to get this biplane ready, I started setup.
I measured the distance between the front of the firewall and the front of the cowl - 5 1/8 inches.
Then I mounted the fuselage vertically and removed the cowl. It looks like the engine compartment is already coated with epoxy. The fuel compartment isn't though so that's on the list to do tomorrow.
I'll also start 'dry mounting' the engine with the engine mount so that the thrust washer is about 1/16 to 1/8 further out than the 5 1/8 inches I measured. Does this sound right?
I'm thinking from the firewall, see photo, the previous engine was mounted with the engine head on the left side as viewed from the front. I say that because the throttle cable tube is low and to the left. That's the way I'm thinking I want to mount this too.
