Make sure (if he hasn't already) that your instructor goes over EVERY safety detail imagineable. Like, how to tune the engine, how to properly start the engine, how to properly restrain the aircraft on the ground, etc, etc, etc. These are very important lessons that you CAN'T get on a simulator. Remember, it is important to bring your plane home in one piece, but it is WAY more important that you, and everyone around you, goes home in one piece also.
