I always had the best luck starting my RAM750's doing the following, hit the ignition button first, then give it a short burst of air to spin the compressor up (about 1 second) then hit the propane, as soon as you hear the pop lighting the propane hit the air again and let it spool. I didn't have any failed starts after doing it this way.
