you mean open up the ecu to see which ones they are connected too. Will post tomorrow. I know what you are thinking. I ctually opened it up myself to make sure I was connecting the right ones as it was hard to tell just soring them on the outside of the ecu

I you can do that it will help, the reason I ask about possible incorrect connections is that the when you press the ignition button, the only part that's energized are the glow plug terminals, once that is verified as correct, I will tell you how you can test everything is working properly without risk of fire

I compared to an ECU I have on hand, from your angle, the two at the top should be the the glow plug, and should have the positive with a "Blue" sermos terminal, the second pair going down should be the battery and the third pair should be the pump with a "yellow" sermos connector
Is this what you have??

I removed the sermos connectors so couldnt tell for sure. But the first 2 i have connected to the fuel pump. This is what it has in the manual I got. Looks like that is the reason though. I will swap them around and see how I go. Thanks heaps for your help. Strange though that the manual has them the other way around!!!

wish i had of left the sermos connectors on now LOL. It does make sense though that they would be the wrong way around. If I push the start on the start box with the bat connectoed it should just ignite the glow plug and go out after 30 secs I think. will check it out this weekend. Do you know which glow plugs are best for the Ram?

Everyone I have used worked fine, even the 4 stroke ones, but it is said that the best are the McCoy #9's...
On another note, make sure your cable pairs are always together on the ECU connections, the"common" are actually the positive terminals, so, you cannot swap your black cables, or you'll have trouble....

well i think you have solved it. Just turned it on hit the start, glow lit up for 30 secs then display read timed ot and glow went off. The manual is definately wrong then or I was given a different manual online. Knew it wouldnt be anything too major. Thanks again

Hi matty,
I always had the best luck starting my RAM750's doing the following, hit the ignition button first, then give it a short burst of air to spin the compressor up (about 1 second) then hit the propane, as soon as you hear the pop lighting the propane hit the air again and let it spool. I didn't have any failed starts after doing it this way.

You should push the ign buton first...then bump the air and crack the propane. Once it "pops" - starts, open the propane and air slowly but simultaneously as you can blow out the flame with too much air. At the Fuel Ramp statement you should have both air and propane open fully. Lastly it should state "running' before you should disconnect.

I found out the hard way what happens if you turn off the propane too soon - a hot start with several feet of flames coming out the engine. Luckily the fire extinguisher was at hand.

thks for the advice guys. Am just waiting on a gas valve and Jet joe starter then will be good to go. am curious how do you get a large flame if you turn the propane off too early? there wouldnt be any fuel? or do you mean when the fuel starts running and you turn it off before the ecu says running???
