Maybe just because I didn't know any better... I always used the windex trick with Ultakote and never had any problems with it at all.
One thing I did find (which maybe should be obvious, but I needed to see it for myself anyway) was that there's trim solvent and then there's trim solvent. The Topflite solvent made for Monocote is NOT good for some Ultrakote. (Remember, Ultrakote changed a couple of years ago... I haven't tried this combination on the newer stuff.) On the older Ultrakote formulation, the Monocote solvent turned the Ultrakote adhesive to goo and it stayed that way A LONG TIME (talking months or more here).
But Windex: yeh, that works.
