You sure you want to go to all this work and $$ man? Not that I believe the ST-1 is the fastest truggy out there, but it does very well and for me it's all in the durability. You can't bash a RC8T or an 8ight-T worry free, because it can get pricey quickly, and really loosen Up your "expensive tightly tuned" race truggy. For me, I spend much more of my time just having fun with RC (ie. Bashing with buddies, or just ripping up some jumps, hill climbing, etc). The ST-1 is probably the most durable truggy you'll ever own. I know several people that break things so fast on their 8ight-T's in a hard bashing session. Worse yet is probably the all around slop you'll cause to it with bashing.
If I were you I'd rather just keep the ST-1 for bashing sessions (and honing your race skills) and save up until next year for the RC8T. If you really aren't driving the ST-1 then, sell the whole bundle in exchange for an RC8T. Or keep it as a parts truck for your RC8T as several parts on the RC8T are directly taken from the ST-1 (ie. all 3 diffs, shims, bearings, etc). The other thing is, the ST-1 isn't THAT slow. Like has been mentioned so many times before, it's generally max a second or so slower per lap. And that's if your driving skills are 100% and the only thing holding you back from 3rd to 1st for example, is your truck. I've read a couple threads on here where guys have owned the 8ight-T, RC8T and ST-1 and overall liked the ST-1 better. Easier to drive and more durable were the main points. I just wouldn't want you to drop $1200 on a new RC8T and realize it didn't really get you any further along in the race scene at this level.
Anyways, do what you like but that's just my $.02
