I think a 6 cell NiMh will make a Rustler/Stampede VXL do 35+. In order to get the crazy fast speeds you need to go Lipo. If you want to race and bash I personally would get a Rustler. If you lower the Stampede to get a lower CG you are also losing suspension travel which you need when jumping.
