If you have the funds readily available, upgrade to an FM radio at the least, or a 2.4 ghz system. Replace the servos with better servos of course. For steering, use one with higher torque. For throttle/brakes, a standard servo should do just fine.

AM systems pick up that jitter that servos tend to do, but then again, low quality servos are popular for doing that too.
