ORIGINAL: da Rock

BTW, I wish I'd had a camera when I built one of those 1/2A LOGS back in....... back in........ uh....... the 50s.

Mine was red, orange, yellow too. And cost a fortune to finish. The LHS owner kept selling me 1oz bottles of Aerogloss and saying it'd be enough to finish the sucker. Jeez, that Aerogloss, the Ambroid, and castor in fuel sure did smell good didn't it.
The Scientific "hollow logs" back in the mid fifties had airfoiled wings ~1/4" thick. I would sand almost enough to get the milling marks off. Further hollow the log? ...heck it was already hollow. Two coats of clear, and some color. I remember those 1 oz. jars, I used the 4 oz. for base colors, and the 1.0z. for trim. They were heavy, but they flew.

Little Bipe, Little Devil, and Little Mustang were my favorites.

Lukesp, NICE PLANE! Like the detailed rigging on the tail.

BTW, does anyone know if Walt Musciano has fully recovered from his illness?
