Buck asked me if I could make some brake hubs with side mounted air connection. DONE!
While I was at it, I decided to make some wheels and brakes for myself. I had some spare BVM tires that measure 2.8 inches. They are several years old, and I don't know if BV even sells them anymore, at least when I looked them up, there were none that size on the site. So I decided to make rims and brakes for it.
Also made some rims for the Kingcat.
Joe Mcbride test flew some rims for me a few days ago, apparently of the tires blew off the rim. I did some testing here (see picture) with the intairco tire, it blows off the rim at about 6,000 RPM. With BVM tires, they held for more than 12,000 RPM. I did a spreadsheet on diameter vs rpm and you would have to touch down at 100 MPH for the bv tire to blow off the rim I made.
I will test fly soon and get my own solid data. Joe, if you read this, sorry that didn't work. We decided over the weekend to make our rims only for BV replacement tires as his tires have a deeper "flange" inside with more meat to grab onto with the spikes we machined. The intairco are simply too soft to do this with. The good news is, the rims we made are at least at this time for the kingcat and the Flash. IE, your existing kingcat brakes will work, your existing intairco brakes will work, but the new tires are gonna have to be the bv tires. 3.5 inch for the kingcat and 3.25 inch for the flash.
Anyway, pictures tell the story of my learning curve as well.
