Default RE: The New Pentathlon Evolution

Nice thread!

The Pentathlon Evolution has been designed to add some refinements to the Pentathlon. No significant changes to the aerodynamics, but some more significant refinements to the fuse structure and layout. I wish I could say that I have one completed, but I do not. Just like everyone else, my own time for building is hard to find. A few Evo kits have been shipped though, so in time we should have photos and reports, even if they are not mine[:@]. The attached image shows the internal layout of the Evo. This layout gives nearly all the components a place to be neatly installed. It also improves access for my fat hands to screw on the wing nuts without the interference of the fuel tank. This setup is geared toward the hatori muffler, but formers for a pipe tunnel are included with the laser parts.

The Harmony Bipe as described above is a Harrison Design. I did all the kit layout work for the prototype. Mike took the kit and had the prototype flying in only 8 weeks...this included making glass molds and parts for the chin and canopy! Recently, I got the chance to fly it, and I can say it will be my next project after completing one of my Evo kits. The Harmony exhibits all of the great traits of a pattern bipe. It has a very large presence in the air, and it is very easy to fly. Mike has done an excellent job in a short time to get the prototype flying near perfect. Getting the incidences, thrust and CG right on a prototype bipe is not a task for the faint of heart. Between now and next Summer, Mike and I have a long list of nice changes to make to the Harmony kit before offering it for purchase.

On the building board (luckily not mine) is an Insight Bipe. This prototype should be extremely cool in terms a light, different looking bipe. Next Spring it should be flying and letting us know if it is a winner.

While we are on the subject of future stuff, a good friend is now finishing a 110 size Insight. Assuming it is successful, I will gladly offer parts and plans for this simple, little gem.

Best Regards,
Mark
