Not sure about mounting it that way. To be honest, I'll have to look at it. I think I know what you're describing, but I'll check. Are you talking about the "typical" way they are set up? Where the rudder movement itself controls the wheel?

If so, I'm pretty sure I looked at that and it didn't seem feasible. I'll take a few more pics and maybe you can tell.

From my unexperienced opinion, I'd say buy one of these. The few experienced people who have flown it, really like it.
