ok what about the AT-6 Texan 60 ARF RC Plane w/Retracts would anyone recomend getting this as a first plane ?
Absolutely not. This is not a first plane in any form or fashion. While it may be an easy flying for plane for somebody with flying experience, it is not for somebody that is learning to fly. In fact, I doubt that there are many instructors that would even attempt to teach somebody on this plane. The best advice here is to pick up a traditional trainer airplane and contact an instructor to learn to fly.
I understand that many people out there want to get their hands on a "sexy warbird" to fly and don't want to start flying with an "ugly" trainer airplane. But trainer planes are there for a reason. They are there to make it easy to learn to fly. Even full scale "fighter jocks" don't start out in their fighters, they start out on trainers to learn to fly. Unfortunately this is a process that just can't be skipped. All of us have been there and gone through the process of learning to fly on a trainer.
I've put together a list of planes that make good trainers and second planes. All of them on the list are proven planes that are well suited for successfully letting students learn to fly, or advance to a second plane. Check out the list here
