Jack, are these engines you are talking about that will not go rich, is that on a test stand or in airplane? Just for data on this...what Prop...what is hi RPM (average will do)....what is the placement of fuel tank and how big of lines and or filters are you using? I caanot for the life of me figure out why five of the same carbs will not richen up. For every happening there is a cause...I would think! Thanks, Capt,n[X(]
Hi Captinjohn, The engines were on a test stand and in airplanes. prop Mejzlik 32-10, average rpm was around 5300 some higher, and the engine in my plane has the timing set to 26 degrees, and it turns about 5000, all I need for a 32# plane. fuel tank in the plane (40% Laser, from my plans) is located under the hatch, on the c.g., Fuel tank on test stand is behind the prop and to the left of the engine about 6 in. Fuel lines are 1/8 inch i.d., am using 4 filters before gas goes into the plane's fuel tank they are 3/16 in. od, there are no filters in the plane. Am old pattern flier, and still use the K.I.S.S. concept. The reason the engines won't richen up is because the wga7/9 is calibrated for a 100cc engine, The BME 116 carb (Wga-7/9) "will richen up very nicely on the hi needle" per mfg. Hope this answers your questions.
