Made the first flight today..that viper was fassssst fast is a under statement, it was so fast it wasnt fun to fly lol..clocked at 187mph the first time and the 2nd clock was 192mph and that was a flat pass..I was affraid to dive it. You guys were right, the balancing was a real pain and I had to reinforce it with carbonfiber tape, and the landing was even fast and hairy at 25-30mph, it was a real thrill to fly but the .61 is just too much power for it, it became a dot very quickly! im going to put a O.S.46 back on it and call it a day!
If your Viper went 192 with a .61 on it you should get your radar checked!
For those who may not know him since he doesn't post in this forum, s-10promod is a fellow club member, a die hard pylon racer, and has a couple Nelson 40 powered quarter 40 pylon racers. One has been shot on radar at 183 mph. I've seen both planes fly - and his Napier Heston down right scary!. His Nelson powered 428 Quickies only do about 165, and these speeds are representative of the breeds.
I agree - that radar needs to be checked. I fly another buddies Viper with a Thunder Tiger 40 Pro, and in full race trim it's been tracked on radar at 127 mph. With a sport .61 maybe 135 on a very good day with a tail wind.
