The F4J did have a slotted stab. as did some other variants to improve control at lower approach speeds. Here is my rendition of it on my BVM F4, a J model aboard USS America.

Made of moulded layers of 1/64th ply wood. Zero affect but looks good though !

Never did get around to incorporating the LEDs, too hard box !
