Default RE: RX, Tx and battery

W8YE is right about the combo. One problem with the first one you listed is the servos were too small (HS-81), another thing to pay attention to is the type of Rx in the package. The first one had the Mini6S which is a single conversion, and I would suggest a Dual. I was bit by buying the Min6S to try to save some money, but I had a lot of problems with glitching. I switched it to the the Supreme IIs and have been very happy.

Before you purchase, you may want to think about how far you want to go in the hobby. If you plan on buying a couple of planes, then you may want to think about a computer radio with more than 4 channels, possibly 5 or 6. If so, then you may also want to look at the deals that Hobby People are having. The computer radios will allow you to make trim adjustments digitally and they will be stored to a model that you can recall later, so if you fly several planes, you can choose which plane on the radio and all of the previous trim adjustments will be recalled. (this goes for servo reversing, end point adjustement, and others). Also one of the features is Exponential, which helps take out some of the jerkiness when you are first touching the sticks.

Some things to consider...
You came to the right place,
