Yep, that´s the Swedish Airforce, the AJ 37 Viggen only needed about 300-400m for takeoff and landing depending on armament and fuel. Landing on roads was what the Viggen was designed for. Wartime bases located around the countryside consisted of 3-4 landingstrips in different places some km´s apart. The system was called Base 90 systems and we had a lot of theese wartime bases spread from north to south in Sweden.

The bases was defended by antiaircraft companys and ground defence companys, whith rangers and dogs for sniffing up saboteurs.

Our roads has a lot of the emergency landingstrips that was seen in the movie.

But now the Viggen is replaced by the Saab JAS 39 Gripen, and the wartime bases is abbandoned.

The threat from Russia is not very high at the moment, but who nows in the future?
