I have been using a mix of Futaba and JR.
On Integral 2xJR 9411SAs on Ail, 2xFutaba 9650 on El, 1 x 8411SA on Rud, 1xFutaba 9650 on Throttle
On Proline (not flown yet) 2xFutaba 9154 on Ail, 1xFutaba 9250 on El, 1 x 8411SA on Rud, 1xJR 3421SA on Throttle
There are plenty of choices, the most unique ever seen was on Seba's biplane Miss Wind, he was using the latest robot servos from JR. I guess he knows and there is some rationale behind it.
I believe most common and reliable standard in pattern is the 8411SA or 8401 (plastic). These servos are relativelly slow but powerfull enough for every surface. Stephane Carrier the designer of Integral uses them (8401) on all surfaces, after watching his practice and official flights I ended up that the best servos for pattern are in the thumbs...
