From what I have seen, deltas tend to be designed for one type of SPECIFIED power, not a broad range, and they are initially very fast and difficult to fly. I fly an old Hustler with a well worn Veco .19 up front. Take offs are steep and breathtaking, but then too "Wow, is that thing fast..." is often heard.
