Default RE: gas engine smell?

ORIGINAL: jsteiner

i have heard this from nitro guys and i am wondering how bad does a gas engine smell? i like to keep my planes in the basement, but if they were gas would they smell the house up?
Those nitro guys are just jealous and looking for an excuse to bash something they don't have....

Seriously tho, I see posts occasionally from guys reporting issues with gas smell and I tend to think most are overblown. I run mine dry at the end of each day and keep them in the house with no issues. If they're going to be "out of service" for some time then I go ahead and put a plug in the vent line but if you do that make sure you remember to remove it.

Now I don't have a wife to complain about it, but some guys report that is the problem; she can smell it. Women do have a more sensitive nose but in a lot of cases I suspect she just wants 'em out of "her" house....
