hudmun,

you will find that the P-51 will actually stay where you point it, unlike your trainer that keeps trying to correct itself to an upright and straight ahead heading...

I recommend you get someone to do the TEST FLIGHT for you and get it all trimmed out... perhaps even buddy box you a few flights first... or minimum have someone Test fly it and trim it out for you..
This will guarantee the best success!

They are not that tough to fly.. actually just as was said before...

Keep speed up on turns, don't idle down on landing until you are 1-3 ft above the threshold of the runway, keep your nose down on landing approaches... you cannot "BALLOON"/FLOAT it in as easy as a trainer..
keep the speed up at a nice low speed until you are right above the runway... then chop the throttle!
Use your rudder not just your ailerons!
