There is a Minwax Polycrylic sold at major harware stores. It is water based. Use this as a base coat and sand with a fine grit sand paper between coats. This will seal the foam and allow you to use most any spray paint. The Testers works well.
I like the Minwax base coat because you can sand off the beer cooler foam look and make a smoother finish.
