I could not fit my balancer in there like you have yours.
I know you are already doing this, but just make sure nothing is touching the support rods.
On some planes the CG is not all that critical and can be moved quite a bit before it becomes noticeable, I thought my Hog Bipe was pretty sensitive to the CG location.
