Default RE: tower hobby rx compatability issue?

Bill: Take it from me. Not that I've been around as long as RC'ers like Mike and RCKen, but I've learned to never get rid of the trainer. Keep it intact and fly it occasionally, once you solo. You may get sick of it while getting the basics down, but after that, you will always like to go out on a nice day and just do lazy circles in the sky.

But, what you will find that after you solo, and after you've had a few hundred flights ( ) under your belt, going back to the trainer just might be a challenge. Because you will no doubt be flying something that flys like it's on rails. Then out comes that old trainer that likes to float but hesitates when trying to do a neat and circular loop, or a nice steady slow rate roll, and you will have to re-learn how to fly that thing, which is always fun.

I have a plane that I bought a while back, based on a review done by Mike (Minnflyer). That's the Goldberg Protege. It is a high-wing aircraft that looks like a trainer, but is really a capable performer for what it is, even with a flat bottom airfoil. It has very little dihedral and, mine anyway, has an OS .75 AX engine. Like I said, more than capable, and it's a lot of fun to fly.

So, you may wish to reconsider removing that RC gear out of your trainer and pick up a flight pack for your next plane (flight packs are servos and an RX). Also, take a look at the Berg receivers. Very nice. Small and light yet powerful.
