Default Thinking about building a biplane

Built the CG Ultimate when it first came out . Nice plane except for two areas I didn't care for. First there is not much structural strength on the lower fuse near the wing hold down have seen a few break the fuse in hard landings. I beefed that up. Next is the cabane struts and mounting. If your going to take the plane apart for flying or storage the metal parts don't hold up well.
I would go with a pull-pull rudder the rudder and elevator servo location need to be looked at carefully for a good direct line setup.
A pattern flyer at the time helped me with mine. Was a very nice flying plane. Will do about anything you ask. My mistake was a figure 9.
The Balsa USA EAA is a nice plane but not as easy to build or fly as the CG Ultimate. I had one for a short period of time. That one got traded for something I don't recall. Age does that.
Just my 2 cents worth. Both planes have their good and bad points.
