I think the ParkZone T-28 is a suitable trainer if:

1. You've practiced on a SIM (which you have)
2. If you take your time and stay off high rate (as already mentioned)
3. If at all possible, get someone to verbally help you during your first few flights.

A friend of mine started out with the T-28. I convinced him to resist the urge to do loops and rolls on his first 3-5 flights. He's successfully completed about 10 flights now and the aircraft is still very much in one piece. Know your limits and realize you won't be as capable with the real aircraft as you are with a flight and you'll be fine.

Send pics too. I always like seeing records of first flights.
