Default RE: Measuring engine temp w/multimeter temp probe

ORIGINAL: rcnitrohead

Haven't used a temp gun for 6 years since I got into the hobby, never needed one. Maybe it could have come in handy in my TRX 2.5 days, but until I learned to tune I haven't ever needed one. Tuning my sound/smoke/performance is your friend. I guess the only reason I'd personally use a gauge is to measure temp during break in to make sure I'm over 210F.

Tom.
I agree with the sentiment but you really did not answer his question. He didn't ask if/when he should use one, he asked if you could use a particular kind and where to take the temp from.

The first 25 years I was in this hobby there was no such thing as a temp gun. But that does not mean they are not a useful tool.
