Cook F-4 CG setup(turbine)
The numbers given above are correct and are right out of the book.......BUT
THAT'S DRY WITH THE GEAR UP ( nose gear swings aft) AND
the original had twin 20 oz tanks up even with the inlets and up under the back side of the cockpit. So move the CG forward for turbine use. My best guess would be 41 inches from the nose "dry" Gear up,
with saddle tanks positioned as stated below.
A good friend with a good pilot missed that little factiod when setting up there Cook F-4.
They put the kidney shaped kevlar fuel cells right alongside the turbine, centered right at the 43/..1/2 mark, to rid itself of any CG change infight, (good thinking there)..... BUT (the original had twin 20 oz tanks up even with the inlets and up under the back side of the cockpit.CG really moved forward when wet.)
it took off with a obvious aft cg , and crashed(no fireball).
