I agree 100% with you about adding usefull weight.

I am using a OS 46 LA engine. Unfortunately I am in no position financially right now to buy a different heavier Engine.

I was told, by a local club member, that I made a good engine selection, as my first trainer is a SID Kadet Senior.

Considering this is my first plane. I don't want anything too powerful, I want an easy machine to learn with.
