Scott, I saw a video of Lyle Larson building a plane with eliptical tips and I used the same method. Cut the tips at an angle and then add the "pie piece" to give 2 different angles on the joint to help distribute the load and make it a little stronger.
Also check the width of your ply reinforcement on the trailing edge. the canopy needs to fit over it.
