C/G should be level by usingt the main shaft or flybar as a reference point. Yep need to get as close as possible. I just rotate the blades to be in line with the tail boom and with the flybar 90degrees to the boom I pick the machine up by the flybar and I want the landing gear skids to be level with the table top.
