Default RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

ORIGINAL: VinceY

I'm new to the electric boat scene and I want to build a predator. I've read this entire thread, but I think I need to ask these questions anyway. I fly a trex450 heli and swapped the stock motor for a scorpion motor. The stock align 430xl is a 3700kv outrunner in a case. Can I use this motor in a predator with the 3s 30c lipos that I currently use in my helis? Should I use a 60 amp esc? What prop would you guys recommend? Thanks for the help.
I do not know much about the power output for outrunners.
For a Predator rigger hull you need rpm and lots of it with a bit of torque as well. 30,000 rpm is a good area to be in.
Once you load the motor the rpm will go down and the Amps will go up. This is what riggers do.
I run a 8S (4400kv) Feigao on 2S via a 432 prop for 40 mph speed.
My reading tells me that the Heli motors do not have a lot of torque, you can go 3S on this motor easily but use a small prop to start with. Try to find a 431 plastic and give that a whirl.

I have made a few riggers with a lot of different motors and have a bit of experience on the water to back up any suggestions that I make.

Cheers.
Simon.
