A "simple" building plane is what you need to look for in your first kit. Just like flying building is a skill that you must work to improve on. Start with an easy building kit and work your way up to more advanced kits like the P-47 you suggested above. You will build skills and improve you building ability as you move up to more advanced kits. But starting on a kit that is too advanced for you is one sure way to turn you off from kit building forever. But it you start off with easy kits that are fun to build you will develop a love for this aspect of the hobby that may well last for a lifetime.
