You will get a mix of suggestions with this question so I will put in my two cents.

Of the two you mentioned I think the Belt is a better bird, but I am going to suggest the blue ray of the two. The main reason is parts. You will crash! If you have to order parts each time you are going to be grounded for a while. The blue ray is nearly 100% trex parts compatible. Every hobby store carries parts for the trex. I have not found a store yet that carries parts for the belt (at least in colorado). I have a 450 squadron which is the same as the blue ray. I love it and my new blue ray according to UPS should be delivered today . Are they top of the line? No! Good beginner helis? Yes!

I do agree with the other posts that if you have the cash look at the trex. In the end it will be better. You might even look into copterx. There are a number of posts here of people who swear by them saying they rival the trex and some would say are better. Good quality, trex compatible parts, and good price. Save all that extra money for parts []

Just a word of advice. Take it apart when you get it and make sure all the screws have loctite. I speak from experience. It is not a pretty site seeing your heli dismantle itself in flight once a screw comes out. It's like a transformer, goes from beautiful heli to pile of trash in no time flat.
