I always Solder on my threaded end that will hold the ball link set up on the carb first.
Then i Mark the length i need to the servo.
Mark it and solder that end abit past what i need. Then i cut the remainder off with a dremel.

Ive never had a problem with the flex cable unraveling by doing this.
