Default RE: DL-50 engine

No doubt the engine can turn those numbers, but doing it with a Vess 22b on a J-Tec pitts muffler is about a thousand more RPM than any DL50 or 55, for that matter, has ever done. Would probably take at least another HP to do that. Not saying it's not doing it, just wear some protection around it while it is.
I plan on doing some follow up rpm ckecks. Maybe I didn't hold my tongue right, the sun was off to the side of the prop, both tachs did have some age on them, but have been reliable in the past. I compared the 22B with a spare of the same, they both look the same. I'll find another tach somewhere.
If in fact it is *****g at 8300, it sounds like from you guys I need to limit the throttle to at least 7500.........si' ?
The motor sounds great and is pulling like a mule, the spark plug color looks good, doesn't fade out after extended full throttle with no bad sounds like a rattling bucket of bolts....
that's why I come to the experienced ones and ask if I've done really well or doing something really bad for the long run. But I will get back to ya with some new data in a few days. Thanks for the feed back!
