A lot of freaking planes come in red so yellow is a nice change.
For me, red shows up in the sky more than yellow. Pretty much every airplane I've owned has had some amount of red, white, and blue (except the Decathlon - no blue).
I am surprised at how many planes are mostly blue and white. You just can't pick a worse color combination for visibility's sake.
Ihave owned two blue and white planes, the 1/4 scale Extra I finally sold and the Hots is one I built for myself and fly all the time. Any plane in these colors is one you never take your eyes off of for any reason. Ihave lost this little Hots just blinking when my eyes are watering.
Why would I ever cover one in these colors?? Ineeded a Warbird and I had the covering on hand so the Hots is now a Warbird. The Extra was an ARF Ibought third hand and it was what it was. It was cheap and everyone knows I like cheap!!!
