When I try my Multplex charger, the end of charge beep goes off within a few seconds. I think it's the battery. It won't take a charge.

You were talking about your walwart charger and the light that is suppose to dim and go out but doesn't. Maybe that is your problem - a faulty charger that will destroy a new battery as well?
