Great day!!
Today was a great day at the field. Ifinally got to solo my pts mustang. Iflew it three times, landing the third time with a dead stick (the pucker factor was still pretty high for me!). The guys at the field were great. They saw me fly my corsair and said they didn't think Iwould have any problems with the mustang. The mustang is a lot gentler than the corsair as it turns out. Ihad a really good coach nearby while Iwas in the air. The big difference between the two models is throttle management on final. The mustang seems to respond a little better to throttle inputs for managing the sink rate. Istill haven't been able to figure out why the engine quit, though. Idid see quite a bit of fuel in the carb while starting, and it idles great, but sometimes doesn't like to go from idle to full throttle quickly. There was also some fuel coming out from the bottom of the cowl. Ithink I need to pull it off and fuel-proof the firewall before my next trip out. When Ihad the flameout during the flight, Ihadn't changed throttle setting as I was on the upwind leg of my pattern preparing to turn left on the crosswind leg.
Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I think I still have some adrenaline left in my system! Thanks!
