In our application, AM or FM, it doesn't really matter.

However, the vast majority of equipment being made is FM (partially due to misconceptions like limited distance ), so if you pruchase am you won't get much of anything at resale, and you might have trouble finding compatible receivers down the road. Much more available in FM.
