I usually purchase parts from Hong Kong and the USA, but I limit my maximum amount of purchases so I will not be able to pay the corresponding DUTY/GST/PST and Canada Post Handling fee.

To compare the overall cost if purchasing an item abroad, check the price of that same item from your LHS, do some calculations and you can compare the bottomline cost. In my case, I would prefer to purchase it abroad, saves me extra dollars, however, waiting time could be longer or shorter.

Sometimes, I negotiate the final pricing from my LHS if I don't want to wait for a long period oftime since my LHS can bring in the item in 7 calendar days considering it is IN-STOCK from their supplier (Horizon Hobbies), otherwise, I purchase it from an on-line seller from Hong Kong or from the popular on-line auctions.
